Little Things from Lisa
I want to share with you something that happened this week in the hopes that it will encourage you as it did me. I have been really intentional about letting the world see God through me and my love. And as I’ve already shared, the world isn’t always ready to receive that love openly! But I’m determined to live a life where Love Does!
That being said, I was praying to God the other day and I said something to the effect of, “Why don’t you just manifest yourself more plainly to people?!? It would make things so much simpler.” At that moment, something happened. We have a light bar and one of the sockets will not work. That socket has a good bulb in it, but it won’t come on. It hasn’t for a long long time. As I expressed my prayer, that light came on!
Me, being me, said, OK. Is that for me? And God followed it up with two more obvious ways He was responding to me. And, to be completely honest with you, I panicked a little. (Remember that panicking is my go-to default when I experience shocking things) And it awakened in me the reality of the strange and difficult relationship we have with God.
We want to know He’s there, but when He reveals Himself, it is a little overwhelming. And scary! The experience reminded me of that movie “A Few Good Men” when Jack Nicholson says, “You can’t handle the truth!” And I think that is what God is trying to communicate to us….He is reaching out to us in a million ways. But either we write it off as coincidence or we ignore it because it is too intrusive! And God knows we really can’t handle a full revelation of Himself yet.
Now some of you will write this off as coincidence. Others will see it as confirmation from God. But my hope is that it will awaken you to all the ways God is trying to reach us, but we aren’t listening. Or, like me, you listen, but panic when He gets too close!
I would suggest simply paying attention. No sign is too small or too big if God wants to reach you. Where is He lighting up the way for you to see Him? Be thankful that He is there, WITH you, whether you are ready or not.
