Little Things from Lisa
It has been an incredibly busy season of Lent and Easter for me. Between Pastoral Care and extra worship responsibilities, I never know if I’m coming or going. Even as I write this, I have a funeral and a wedding to officiate in the next few days! And another Sunday will come whether I have time to prepare or not!
As I feel the pinch of “not enough time,” I’m reminded of one of the scriptures Joan requested at her funeral last week from Ecclesiastes entitled “A Time for Everything.” You know the verses ….”A time to be born, a time to die, a time to plant, a time to uproot…” The sun does rise and set everyday regardless of how much time I may need in a day.
As you know, I am in college to earn my Bachelors of Science in Religion from Liberty University. I am this close to graduation! I enrolled in 2010 and have been taking as many classes at a time as possible. I am committed to completing my courses by this December. To that end, I did something I may regret, but have dedicated myself to complete. I enrolled in two classes at Rock Valley College in Summer Session I which are hybrid classes. They begin on May 15th and both last only three weeks. However, they are traditionally 16 week classes where the work will be condensed and accelerated to complete them in the shorter time frame. I am already worried I bit off more than I can chew. But it feels to me like “a time” to get this completed and these two classes can be scratched off the list!
So for three weeks at the end of May and beginning of June, I will be buried in my office. I have cancelled bible study on Wednesday nights for those weeks to facilitate as much free time as I can to complete my classwork. I would appreciate your prayers and patience as I foolishly attempt this endeavor. Now is a time for weeping as I worry about what I signed on for, but soon it will be a time for laughing as I celebrate it being over!
Thank you for your continued love and support.
